A rusted, R-panel metal roof about 50 years old on Glass Lane in Bastrop was leaking at the eaves and inside the house. We replaced it with a 24-gauge standing seam metal roof, along with new plywood and new fascia. The job was finished in April 2026.

Project Facts
- Location: Glass Lane, Bastrop, TX 78602
- Completed: April 2026
- Job type: Metal roof replacement (homeowner-paid)
- Roof size: 34 squares
- Pitch: 6/12
- Stories: One story

- Metal panel: ShurLoc 150 standing seam, 24-gauge AZ-55 Acrylic Galvalume, 1½” seam (UL 2218 Class 4 impact, UL 790 Class A fire)
The Situation
The homeowner is a family member of a past Caden Roofing client, who referred them to us. Their roof was about 50 years old, an R-panel metal roof with exposed fasteners, and it had started leaking.
What We Found
- A rusted 24-gauge galvanized steel R-panel roof with exposed fasteners, about 50 years old
- Old fasteners had backed out of the plywood
- Major leaks around the eaves
- Leaks inside the house
- Rotted 2×8 fascia
What We Installed
- Removed the old R-panel roof; the old metal was upcycled
- Replaced 20 sheets of plywood
- Replaced 140 feet of rotted 2×8 fascia
- Palisade® synthetic underlayment
- High-temperature ice and water barrier at penetrations, the chimney and sidewalls
- ShurLoc 150 standing seam panels, 24-gauge AZ-55 Acrylic Galvalume, with 1½” snap-together seams and one-piece clips that let the panels expand and contract with heat
- New chimney flashing
- Dektite® pipe flashings
- Vented Z ridge
The Result
The house now has a standing seam roof with no exposed fasteners. The clips are hidden under the panels, so there are no screw heads left to back out and leak. The panel system is rated Class 4 for impact and Class A for fire.
